
On July 22, 2026, Cape Coral Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at Jim Jeffers Park, located at 2817 SW 3rd Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered significant damage to the park’s restroom facilities. Six toilets had been destroyed using explosive devices, and two soap dispensers were also damaged. The estimated cost of repairs exceeds $3,000.
An investigation involving the Tactical Intelligence and Analytics Center (TIAC) and the Property Crimes Unit identified a yellow Chevrolet Camaro entering the park during early morning hours. Surveillance footage showed two individuals exiting the vehicle and entering the restroom area, where multiple flashes consistent with explosions were observed.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the vehicle and its occupants. The driver, Trey Gary Pinette (DOB 12/10/2009), admitted to being at the park and participating in the incident alongside Da’Vaustin Alan Eugene Neff (DOB 02/27/2009). Both suspects stated they used explosive devices, commonly known as M-80s, inside the toilets, causing extensive damage.
Detectives were able to recover items consistent with the incident, including fireworks and other evidentiary materials.
As a result of the investigation, both Trey Gary Pinette and Da’Vaustin Alan Eugene Neff were arrested and charged with:
- Burglary of a Structure with Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 (F.S. 810.02(2)(c)(2)) – First Degree Felony
- Arson (F.S. 806.01(2)) – Second Degree Felony
- Criminal Mischief Over $1,000 (F.S. 806.13(1)(b)(3)) – Third Degree Felony
