On December 10, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the Pelican Baseball Complex, located at 4128 Pelican Boulevard in Cape Coral, Florida, for a suspected arson.
A park ranger with the City of Cape Coral was contacted by a crew that discovered extensive damage in the park’s bathrooms. A fire had been set in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms. Sinks, soap dispensers, and toilet paper dispensers had been broken off the walls and left smashed on the floors. Burnt items had been thrown into the toilets.
Security footage showed a male and a female entering the bathrooms around 2:05 a.m. After they entered, smoke was seen billowing out of the bathrooms.
Property Crimes Detectives launched an investigation alongside the State Fire Marshal. Detectives were ultimately able to identify both suspects but had not yet located them. Photos were posted on social media asking the community for assistance in finding them.
On December 11, 2025, the Cape Coral Police Department received more reports of arson. The suspects returned to the Pelican Baseball Complex and ignited several garbage cans, intentionally burned a wooden table, and burned an American flag. The fire started by the suspects caused significant damage to a city building between the baseball fields.
Also on December 11, 2025, the suspects went to Cape Christian Church and ignited a church T-shirt and a sign.
On the afternoon of December 11, 2025, the Cape Coral Police Department received a call from a citizen at Cape Christian, reporting that the juvenile male and female, identified as Preston Witten (DOB 05/11/2009) and Kryzalynn McClenithan (DOB 11/02/2010), had returned. Detectives responded and took both juveniles into custody without further incident. McClenithan was in possession of 54 grams of marijuana. Witten was in possession of alcohol while under the age of 21 and a THC vape.
      Preston Witten (DOB 05/11/2009) was charged with the following:
- 3 counts in violation of F.S.S. 806.01(1), First-Degree Arson
- 3 counts in violation of F.S.S. 806.13(1b3), Criminal Mischief $1,000+
- 1 count in violation of F.S.S. 876.52, Desecration of a Flag
- 1 count in violation of 893.13(6a) Possession of a Controlled Substance
- 1 count in violation of F.S.S. 562.111 Possession of Alcohol Under 21
      Kryzalynn McClenithan (DOB 11/02/2010) was charged with the following:
- 3 counts in violation of F.S.S. 806.01(1), First-Degree Arson
- 3 counts in violation of F.S.S. 806.13(1b3), Criminal Mischief $1,000+
- 1 count in violation of F.S.S. 876.52, Desecration of a Flag
- 1 count in violation of F.S.S. 893.13(6a), Possession of Controlled Substance
