On August 4th, 2025, at approximately 10 PM, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 3000 block of SW 4th Pl, Cape Coral, Florida, in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
The reporting party told dispatchers a car was parked in his driveway for about 20 minutes. The vehicle was blacked out and a man was inside. The reporting party said he did not know the man, and he had no business being there. His presence caused the reporting party to feel in fear for their safety, so he called police.
A K9 Officer was first on scene and made contact with the man in the driver’s seat, later identified as Landon Moore (DOB 09/14/2003). Moore started to make furtive movements, reaching under the front of the driver’s seat. The K9 Officer could also smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer gave commands to Moore to step out of the vehicle. He complied and was detained for officer safety. The officer asked Moore what he was doing in the driveway. He said, “he was going to his girlfriend’s house,” but did not know the address. He said he pulled into the driveway to try to “connect to their Wi-Fi.”
Due to Moore’s furtive movements and the odor of burnt marijuana, officers searched the vehicle. Under the driver’s seat, where Moore had been reaching, they located two loaded firearms. Officers also found a marijuana cigarette, commonly referred to as a “joint,” along with a wallet containing a Florida Concealed Carry Permit and two debit cards belonging to different individuals.
Property Crimes Unit Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. A search warrant on the car was executed and detectives found several items of Personally Identifiable Information which did not belong to Moore. Additional property was suspected stolen. Detectives were able to link the stolen property and Personally Identifiable Information to additional victims.
Based on the investigation, Landon Moore was arrested on the following charges:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.014(2)(c)(5) – Grand Theft of Firearm
–11 counts in violation of F.S.S. 790.23(1)(a) – Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
