Smash-and-Grab Burglar Arrested

(November 15, 2024) Last night, November 14, 2024, our Property Crime Detectives arrested a smash-and-grab burglary suspect who broke into six different businesses in Southeast Cape Coral.

Starting November 5, 2024, officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the Superior Hemp Dispensary for a burglary alarm. Officers did not locate anyone inside. The same store was burglarized on November 9 and the store reported over $1300 in products and cash stolen.

On November 11, 2024, four different businesses were burglarized. Our detectives received promising video footage, which was publicly released to help identify the suspect.

One of the businesses affected showed the footage to a regular customer. This customer recognized the suspect and reported information to the detectives on the case.

Property Crimes detectives determined a possible identity for the suspect as Elian S. Everett (DOB 06/07/2001). Detectives were able to determine Everett’s whereabouts and address, which was in the vicinity of the burglarized businesses. Everett was brought in for an interview.

The investigation revealed that Everett was responsible for all six smash-and-grab burglaries. Some of the stolen products were returned to the different businesses. Detectives were also able to determine that he was responsible for a burglary in Fort Myers. Everett also had two outstanding extraditable warrants, one of which was for burglary.
