(April 22, 2024) — The Cape Coral Police Department has launched a podcast to engage with and inform our community.
The first two episodes of the “Cape CopCast,” the official podcast of the Cape Coral Police Department, have dropped on our YouTube Channel and wherever you listen to podcasts (Apple, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and more). Hosted by Officer Mercedes Simonds and Lisa Greenberg from our Public Affairs team, this podcast dives into the heart of the Cape Coral Police Department’s public safety and community initiatives and the inner workings of our department. Each episode brings you insightful discussions, interviews with key figures, and expert safety advice.
The department hopes to use this tool to deepen our relationships with the people of this great city. While social media provides us a platform to answer questions, the Cape CopCast will allow for more long-form conversations without character limits and time constraints.
The first episode of the Cape CopCast features Police Chief Anthony Sizemore as our guest to guide you through the myths and realities of keeping our roads safe. We discuss the many layers of traffic enforcement in our city, from grant-funded operations to daily patrol. Our conversation not only underscores the significance of law enforcement’s vigilance but also the critical need for community involvement and driver education.
In our second episode, we talk to Captain Brand Chenault, who leads our Patrol Bureau. Captain Chenault is our longest-tenured officer, and he shares more about transitioning from the military to rising the ranks of our department. He also pulls back the curtain on his unique approach that marries traditional policing with modern training and strategies. Finally, we discuss a day in the life of a Patrol Officer to help our community learn more about what our officers face on a daily basis.
