Results of St.Patrick’s Day Impaired Driving Operation

(March 18, 2024) – The Cape Coral Police Department conducted impaired driving enforcement operation ‘Be Safe for St. Patrick’s Day’ on March 16-17, 2024, targeting impaired driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in forty-eight citations.

The detailed results are as follows:

Traffic Stop for speed (60 in a 35 MPH zone) led to the discovery that Hooper was impaired; BAC 0.163.

Traffic Stop for no bicycle light led to the discovery that Cook had an active VOP warrant out of Lee County.

 

****The operation was paid for with FDOT sub-grant funding.  Cape Coral currently ranks 7th out of 38 agencies in Impaired Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the city, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
