Man arrested for DUI & Threatening Officer

(March 17, 2025) — On Saturday, March 15, just after 1 AM, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a gray Ford Ranger in the 3600-block of Del Prado Blvd S, Cape Coral, Florida. The driver was swerving across lanes of traffic and the officer believed the driver may be having a medical episode, severe mechanical failure, or was impaired.

From approximately the 4400-block of Del Prado Blvd, the vehicle swerved multiple times and traveled between all three lanes.

The officer turned on their lights in the 3900-block of Del Prado Blvd, but the vehicle did not pull over. The officer turned on their sirens, and the driver passed several driveways and parking lots in which it would’ve been safe to stop. Eventually, the vehicle turned into a parking lot, accelerated abruptly, and came to a hard stop in a spot.

Loud music was coming from the truck. The driver, identified as Claude Gose Jr. (DOB 6/19/1994), did not initially roll down the window. When he did, the officer could immediately see his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his pupils were dilated. The officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed a beer bottle in the center console within reach of the driver. There was also a spilled clear plastic cup on the passenger floorboard that contained an alcoholic beverage.

Gose initially said he didn’t have his license, but officers saw his wallet on the passenger side floorboard. Gose grabbed the wallet and handed over his license.

Gose was unsteady on his feet and had difficulty listening to instructions to stand in one place and stop moving. The officer attempted Standard Field Sobriety Exercises, which Gose agreed to participate in, but Gose then became uncooperative, yelling at officers and arguing. This continued for several minutes until Gose was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence.

Gose initially wouldn’t answer officers when asked if he would submit to a breath test. He then agreed. As officers were gathering his belongings to put into the patrol car, Gose began making threatening statements, saying he would find where the officer lived after he got out of jail, that officers were messing with the wrong person, and that he could “find out anything in 15 minutes.”

Gose was taken to the Lee County Jail. He continued to threaten the officer on the drive. Once there, Gose jerked away from LCSO Deputies, looked directly at the arresting officer, and continued yelling obscenities and “I’m going to find you.”

Claude Gose Jr. (DOB 6/19/1994) was charged with the following:

–1 count in violation of 316.193(1)(a), Driving Under the Influence

–1 count in violation of 836.12(2), Threat of Death or Serious Bodily Harm to a Public Official
