March 14, 2025) — On March 13, 2025, the Cape Coral Police Department arrested Seth Patrick Doughty (DOB 06/06/1994) following a traffic crash that occurred at approximately 8:51 PM near the 2400 Block of SW 4th Street in Cape Coral, Florida. Doughty has been charged with multiple offenses, including Driving Under the Influence (DUI), DUI with a person under 18 years of age, DUI property damage, DUI personal injury, and child neglect.
The incident unfolded when a red Jeep struck multiple parked cars, causing substantial damage. Witnesses reported that the driver appeared to be impaired. Additionally, witnesses noted a young child in the passenger seat, unrestrained and visibly injured.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed signs of impairment in Doughty, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol. The child had sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Investigation revealed the child had not been properly secured in the vehicle, further raising concerns regarding neglect.
Doughty was subsequently arrested for DUI following a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests that confirmed his impairment. Breathalyzer tests conducted yielded a BAC of 0.223, well above the legal limit of 0.08.
The defendant’s vehicle was towed from the scene, and further investigation revealed multiple empty alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle.
Doughty was taken to the Lee County Jail on the following charges:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 316.193(4) – DUI 0.15 or Higher
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 316.193(4) – DUI with a Person Under 18 Years of Age
–4 counts in violation of F.S.S. 316.193(3)(c)1 – DUI Property Damage
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 316.193(3)(c)1 – DUI Personal Injury
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 827.03(2)(d) – Neglect of a Child
