Detectives Make Arrest in Home Invasion Robbery Case

(December 13, 2024) — On December 3rd, 2024, at approximately 8:49 AM, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a residence near the 4700 block of SE 5th Place in Cape Coral for a potential Home Invasion Robbery.

Officers established that a crime was committed and contacted the Violent Crimes Unit to assist with the investigation. The victim stated he was inside his apartment playing video games when three suspects unexpectedly entered the apartment through the front door and began striking and threatening him. All suspects were wearing masks, but the victim recognized one of the suspects as “Shroom.” He indicated he owed “Shroom” $150 and had not yet paid him. The victim claimed that when they entered the apartment, “Shroom” stated they were going to do $150 worth of damage, and then their debt would be even. The victim was battered by all three suspects, one of whom pistol-whipped the victim. The suspects also damaged parts of the victim’s home. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash and left the area. “Shroom” was positively identified as Lazaro Gonzalez Gonzalez (DOB 07/18/2002).

On December 10th, 2024, Detectives located Lazaro Gonzalez Gonzalez and based on the investigation, he was placed under arrest and taken to the Lee County Jail on the following charges: 

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.135 (2a), Home Invasion Robbery w/ Firearm 

–1 count in violation of 784.03 (1a1), Battery

Arrested: Lazaro A. Gonzalez Gonzalez (DOB 07/18/2002, 461 Buffalo Way, North Fort Myers)
