(September 12, 2024) — On September 9, 2024, at around 10 AM, officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department received a call via 9-1-1 that an armed robbery had just occurred at the Hurricane Arcade located at 814 SW Pine Island Road in Cape Coral.
Callers reported that a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and mask over his face entered the rear of Hurricane Arcade and robbed the establishment at gunpoint using a black handgun. The suspect grabbed a cash box from employees at gunpoint. Witnesses saw a suspect flee on foot and enter the passenger side door of a blue Honda SUV.
Officers quickly located the vehicle and activated their emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the blue Honda SUV until it hit a pole and landed in an embankment near Andalusia Boulevard and Durden Parkway.
Both suspects were detained on scene. The driver was identified as Mikael Alejandro Blanc Stewart (DOB 08/29/2000). The second suspect was identified as Jailyn Tyreke Thomas (DOB 05/20/2001).
The investigation revealed that Mr. Stewart and Mr. Thomas conspired to and did commit an armed robbery at the Hurricane Arcade.
Jailyn Thomas was arrested and charged with the following:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.132(2)(A) – Robbery with a firearm
Mikael Stewart was arrested and charged with the following:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.132(2)(A) – Robbery with a firearm
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 316.1935(3)a, Flee/elude a law enforcement officer
