On Wednesday, August 14, just before 5 PM, an officer with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a construction burglary on NW 44th Terrace, Cape Coral, Florida.
The construction project manager said he was called by a neighbor who saw two men load wood that had just been dropped off into a silver truck with an attached trailer. The wood was inside the garage of the home under construction before it was taken. The construction manager said no one was permitted to take the wood, and he wished to press charges on behalf of the business.
The neighbor said the truck was a 4-door with a front bumper bar and a long trailer on the back. She provided a photo of the men on the property with the truck and trailer.
As more officers were headed to the location, a truck matching the description was spotted driving east on Durden Pkwy. The truck stopped on the side of the road just before turning south onto Burnt Store Rd. When the truck started moving again, an officer stopped the vehicle at the 3900 block of Burnt Store Rd.
The driver was identified as Jose Guadalupe Rea Montes (DOB 05/24/1994). The investigation revealed he did not have a driver’s license. The passenger verbally identified himself as Jose Luis Albarzo (DOB 03/19/1991).
Their truck and trailer matched those in the neighbor’s photo. It was determined that the men stole $424.40 in construction materials.

Based on the investigation, Jose Guadalupe Rea Montes (DOB 05/24/1994) was arrested and charged with the following:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 810.02(3)(b) – Burglary, a second degree felony
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 322.34 (2)(c) – Driving without a Valid Driver’s License, a third degree felony

Based on the investigation, Jose Luis Albarzo (DOB 03/19/1991) was arrested and charged with the following:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 810.02(3)(b) – Burglary, a second degree felony

***Two weeks ago, the Cape Coral Police Department posted a warning to Facebook about construction thefts. We asked neighbors to be on the look out for this kind of behavior. The neighbor in this case did the right thing by keeping an eye out and alerting the project manager of the burglary. This is another reminder to be a good neighbor and call the Cape Coral Police Department if you see suspicious activity at a construction site.***
