Patrol Officer Gets 81 Grams of Fentanyl off the Street

(August 14, 2024) — On August 12, 2024, at around 9:40 PM, a patrol officer working for the Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic stop based on an equipment violation on a white Audi near the 300 block of Cape Coral Parkway E in Cape Coral, Florida.

The officer approached the car and identified himself to the driver and explained the reason he was stopped. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Javario Anton Barron (DOB 11/23/1969). The officer smelled the strong odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the car and then observed smoke in the vehicle and a burnt blunt in the cupholder.

At that time, the occupants were asked to exit to the vehicle. Officers searched the car and found a Coach belt containing $400 cash in $20 denominations. Multiple prescription pill bottles were found with a name/label that did not belong to anyone in the vehicle.

One unlabeled orange medication bottle was located in the glove box. The unlabeled medication bottle contained approximately eighty-six white oval tablets with the marking ‘I 10,’ which usually indicates ibuprofen. The pills were not consistent with typical pharmaceutical markings and had a powdery composition. Upon further inspection and field testing, the pills presumptively tested positive for the presence of Fentanyl. The Fentanyl weighed a total of 81.7 grams.

Mr. Barron was arrested and taken to Lee County Jail with the following charges:

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 893.135(1)(c)(4)(a), Traffic Fentanyl/Fentanyl analogues 4 grams or more

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 893.147(1), Possession of Narcotic Equipment and/or use

Arrested: Javario Anton Barron (DOB 11/23/1969, 27187 B Adams St, Punta Gorda, FL)
