Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Weapon

(July 5, 2024) — On July 4, 2024, at approximately 9:30 PM, Officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a home in SW Cape Coral for the reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived at the location, there was a large crowd of people outside the home drinking and lighting off fireworks. Witnesses reported that Jarred Daniel Hill (DOB 6/10/1994) stated he wanted to shoot his rifle into the air while others were lighting off fireworks. A person at the party recognized that Mr. Hill had been drinking and this would be unsafe behavior. The person took the rifle and placed it inside, away from Mr. Hill and the crowd.

Mr. Hill followed the person into the residence, and a verbal and physical argument ensued. The person said they turned around, and Mr. Hill was pointing a black handgun at them. Mr. Hill fired one round, missing them.

After the investigation, officers recovered the rifle and the handgun, found significant damage to the doorframe inside the residence, and discovered a shell casing on the floor. Mr. Hill was arrested. While being placed in handcuffs, he resisted officers’ attempts to detain him.

Mr. Hill was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail with the following charges:
