Man charged in another Grand Theft Auto case

(June 20, 2024) — A man previously arrested for Grand Theft Auto and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon is now facing new charges in another Grand Theft Auto case.

On December 29th, 2023 at around 2 PM, Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department were dispatched to 127 Cape Coral Parkway W, Cape Coral, Florida in reference to a motor vehicle theft.

The victim reported that someone stole his black Kia Forte while he was working at the business. The unknown suspect then returned the vehicle to the parking lot with obvious damage, and parked it in a different spot. Several items were stolen from the vehicle, including the victim’s custom kitchen knife in a brown leather sheath. The vehicle was processed for prints and several were lifted and submitted, including a full handprint from the hood of the car that suggested the hood was opened. Once officers opened the hood, it was discovered the battery was disconnected to disable the vehicle’s alarm. The vehicle had extensive damage to the driver’s side door and interior ignition system and dashboard.

The Cape Coral Police Department previously released a report on another stolen vehicle and subsequent arrest that happened on December 30th, 2023. In that case, officers were called to the 7-Eleven at 3129 Chiquita Blvd S regarding a suspicious vehicle. A gray Kia sedan was parked at a pump for an extended period of time and wasn’t running. Officers determined the vehicle was stolen, and found Alexander Clark (DOB 04/27/2000) asleep in the driver’s seat with a pink and black handgun in his lap. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a custom-made kitchen knife in a brown leather sheath. Clark was arrested for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Florida Felon.

During the investigation, the prints found on the black Kia Forte were linked to Clark. The owner of the black Kia Forte confirmed the knife found in the gray Kia sedan was the same knife he knew he left in the car the day it was stolen.

Alexander Clark was already in the Lee County Jail on charges in the other Grand Theft Auto case. He’s now facing the following additional charges:

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 810.02(4b), Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance, 3rd Degree Felony

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.014 (2c6), Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, 3rd Degree Felony
