The Cape Coral Police Department conducted impaired driving enforcement (Operation “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving”) on May 30, 2024, targeting impaired driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in forty-two total citations.

Traffic Stop for speed. Observations of impairment led to a DUI investigation. SFSEs were started but later refused by Torres Rodriguez. Torres Rodriguez was arrested and transported to LCJ. Inventory of Torres Rodriguez’s vehicle revealed a scale with cocaine residue. Breath refused.
****The operation was paid for with FDOT sub-grant funding.  Cape Coral currently ranks 7th out of 37 agencies in Impaired Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols. Â
