(May 16, 2024) — The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation (“Operation Drive Safe on Peace Officers’ Memorial Day”) on May 15, 2024 specifically targeting speed and aggressive driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in 194 citations.

Cape Coral currently ranks 12th out of 38 agencies in Speeding or Aggressive Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
