
The Cape Coral Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit has made multiple arrests following a lengthy investigation into a stolen vehicle that was later found burned.
On June 22, 2025, officers responded to the 2800 block of NW 4th Place in reference to a motor vehicle theft. A Honda Civic was reported stolen from the residence, where an additional vehicle was also burglarized. Investigators determined the key fob had been left inside the stolen vehicle.
On June 23, 2025, officers responded to a vehicle fire near Chiquita Boulevard and Jacaranda Parkway. The investigation revealed the burning vehicle was the same Honda Civic reported stolen the previous day.
During the course of the investigation, on June 27, 2025, an officer conducting traffic enforcement in Northwest Cape Coral conducted a stop on a speeding vehicle. During the stop, probable cause was established to search the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a stolen handgun. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Landin Lee Ahrens (DOB 03/05/2007), Jaydin Chase Kempton (DOB 02/27/2007), and Ahren M. Edelman (DOB 12/04/2008).
Further investigation led to a search warrant for Kempton’s cell phone. Detectives located video evidence showing Ahrens and Edelman setting the stolen vehicle on fire, while Kempton recorded the incident. All three individuals were positively identified through investigative techniques.
All were arrested and charged with:
- Landin Lee Ahrens was charged with Arson (2nd Degree)
- Ahren M. Edelman was charged with Arson (2nd Degree) and Grand Theft Motor Vehicle
- Jaydin Chase Kempton was charged with Arson (2nd Degree), Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, and Petit Theft
