(August 22, 2025) — After a months-long, comprehensive investigation, the Cape Coral Police Department, in collaboration with the Florida Gaming Commission (FGC), executed a coordinated operation targeting illegal gambling casinos operating within the City of Cape Coral. This marks one of the first — and largest — operations of its kind in Southwest Florida.
This morning, we simultaneously served seven search warrants at different locations, including six casinos and one residence. These businesses were found to prey upon vulnerable populations, particularly elderly residents struggling with gambling addiction. Preliminary analysis revealed that the illegal machines were deliberately calibrated to ensure consistent losses for patrons, further exploiting those at risk.
Evidence also indicates these establishments served as havens for other illegal activity, including narcotics trafficking.
During today’s coordinated effort, investigators seized:
- Over $540,000 in cash
- 428 gambling machines
While no arrests have been made at this time, multiple persons of interest have been identified. The investigation remains ongoing and is in the early stages, with additional enforcement efforts expected. This morning’s operation mobilized upwards of 90 members of our staff, reflecting the size and scope of the effort. The Cape Coral Police Department extends its gratitude to the City of Cape Coral for their continued support in eliminating these illegal establishments. We also recognize the Florida Gaming Commission, whose partnership has been instrumental throughout the course of this investigation.
