
The Cape Coral Police Department Explorer Program is committed to providing young persons an understanding of the law enforcement profession, educate and involve youth in police operations and to interest them in a possible career in law enforcement.
To become a member of the Cape Coral Police Department Explorers Program, an individual must:
- Have completed the seventh grade, and not have graduated from high school.
- Be a full-time student.
- Be between the ages of 14 and 21.
- Have at least a “C” average (2.0 unweighted on a 4.0 scale with no grade of “F” in any classes).
- Complete the Explorer application phase.
- Not have any Felony or Misdemeanor arrests.
- Pass oral interview by Post Advisors.
- Be able to provide their own transportation to Post events (the Explorer is always responsible for transportation: however, the Post will provide transportation when possible).
- Be mentally and physically able to perform the duties required of an Explorer.
- Pay an initial application fee of $35 to the Cape Coral Police Explorers Program.
Meetings and Things We Do
Meetings:
- First and Third Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Cape Coral Police Department: 1100 Cultural Park Boulevard, Cape Coral, Florida

- Vehicle Operations
- Traffic Stop Scenarios/ Traffic Control
- Law enforcement Demonstrations and Scenario Based Training
- Defensive Tactics
- Police Applicant Testing Practice
- First Responder Training
- Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED Certification
- Team Building Trips/Adventure Trips
- 2 Week Summer Academy
- Community Service Hours
