(May 13, 2025) — The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation (“Operation Safety First, Texting Last”) on May 13, 2025 specifically targeting distracted driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in 57 total citations.

Cape Coral currently ranks 4th out of 38 agencies in Distracted Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
