CAPE CORAL, Fla. — On June 12, 2026, the Cape Coral Police Department received an anonymous report of a white Jeep Gladiator with black stars on the sides driving recklessly westbound on Cape Coral Parkway. The caller reported the vehicle was swerving and nearly striking other vehicles on the roadway.
While patrolling the area, an officer located a vehicle matching the description parked at the 7-Eleven near the intersection of Palm Tree Boulevard and Cape Coral Parkway. The officer observed a male, later identified as Andrew Konchek III (DOB 04/11/1985), exit the passenger seat, move into the driver’s seat, drive the Jeep to another gas pump, and then return to the passenger seat. A second male, later identified as Kevin Reardon (DOB 02/04/1989), then entered the driver’s seat and drove away from the gas station.
Officers followed the vehicle and observed it weaving out of its lane, drifting into the bike lane twice, and nearly striking the sidewalk. A traffic stop was conducted on SE 1st Place.
An officer approached the driver’s side window and made contact with Reardon. The officer determined there was no medical emergency or mechanical issue with the vehicle. Upon contact, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. Reardon stated he was coming from home.
A DUI officer asked Reardon to exit the vehicle and walk to the front of the patrol vehicle. Reardon was unsteady on his feet and exhibited bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.
The DUI officer asked Reardon to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Evaluations, and he agreed. Based on the investigation, Reardon was arrested for DUI. He refused to submit to a breath test.
During the traffic stop, officers also made contact with Konchek and observed clear signs of impairment, including a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and poor coordination.
Because Konchek had been observed driving the vehicle in the 7-Eleven parking lot, a second DUI officer initiated a DUI investigation and asked him to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Evaluations. Konchek agreed to participate.
Based on the investigation, Konchek was arrested for DUI. After being placed under arrest, Konchek tensed his arms and resisted being handcuffed. He refused multiple commands to release his grip and argued with officers about being arrested. After continuing to resist, Konchek was taken to the ground and handcuffed. He was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest without Violence.
Andrew Konchek III (DOB 04/11/1985) was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with the following:
- 1 count of DUI
- 1 count of DUI Refusal to Submit to DUI Testing
- 1 count of Resisting Arrest without Violence
Kevin Reardon (DOB 02/04/1989) was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with the following:
- 1 count of DUI
- 1 count of DUI Refusal to Submit to DUI Testing
During an inventory of the vehicle following the arrests, officers located a bottle of New Amsterdam Vodka beneath the driver’s seat.
