A man was arrested for DUI after being found impaired in his vehicle at a Cape Coral intersection, but this incident had an unexpected act of community service when officers stepped in to help deliver food to a local resident.
On November 20, 2025, at approximately 8:14 PM, Cape Coral Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Skyline Blvd and Cape Coral Pkwy following reports of a man appearing unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle stopped at a traffic light. Upon arrival, officers found the driver, later identified as Luis Angel Alania Estrella (DOB 10/23/2000), asleep and unresponsive in a running vehicle in drive. After officers made contact and ensured the scene was safe, the driver was removed from the vehicle, and a DUI investigation was initiated.
Through observations of impairment and subsequent investigation, officers determined that Estrella was under the influence and placed him under arrest for DUI. It was discovered during the investigation that Estrella was working as a DoorDash delivery driver at the time of the incident and expressed concern over the undelivered food order in his possession.
In an effort to assist the community member awaiting their meal, one of the responding officers took the initiative to deliver the food order to its final destination. The actions of the officer helped ensure the resident received the meal safely and without unnecessary delay.
Estrella was additionally charged with driving with a suspended license and later transported to the Lee County Jail in good health.
