Cape Coral, FL – On Friday, September 5, 2025, at approximately 6:10 a.m., officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department responded to the 4400 block of Coronado Parkway in reference to a traffic crash involving a stolen motor vehicle. The initial 911 call reported that a pickup truck had been taken from a local business in southeast Cape Coral and was seen being driven erratically before crashing into a grassy median along Coronado Parkway.
When officers arrived, they located the pickup truck involved in the crash and detained the male suspect, later identified as Robert Anthony Kondor (DOB 01/24/1998). Investigators determined that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the morning shortly after the owner parked it at a business on Southeast 10th Place. The suspect entered the unlocked truck and drove away while the owner and a witness immediately contacted police and followed the stolen vehicle. According to their accounts, the truck was driven recklessly through nearby streets before ultimately colliding with multiple trees and traffic signs in the median on Coronado Parkway.
An additional independent motorist also witnessed the crash, reporting that the truck had been swerving between lanes before leaving the roadway and striking several objects. That witness approached the driver to check on his condition before being alerted by the victim that the truck had just been stolen. All witnesses provided sworn statements confirming the sequence of events.
Based on the investigation, Kondor was determined to be at fault. He was issued traffic citations for careless driving and for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Based on the investigation and corroborating witness accounts, officers arrested Kondor for the following charges:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.014(2)(c)(6), Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, a third-degree felony
