Cape Coral Man Charged with DUI After Close Call with Officers

(Cape Coral, FL) — On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at around 2:15 AM, Cape Coral Police officers were conducting a traffic stop near 4400 Chiquita Blvd when they observed a blue Chevy Silverado traveling southbound at a very high rate of speed. The truck passed within 5 feet of the officers, violating Florida’s “Move Over” Law.

An officer had to drive at a drive at a high rate of speed to catch up to the suspect vehicle before initiating a stop near SW 48th Terrace and Agualinda Blvd.

The driver, identified as Tyler Janson (DOB 04/10/2003), was the sole occupant. Janson told officers he was coming from a friend’s house and admitted to drinking earlier in the evening. Officers noted watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol coming from his breath. A DUI investigation was conducted, and Janson agreed to perform Standard Field Sobriety Exercises.

Based on the investigation, Janson was arrested for DUI. He refused to provide a breath sample for testing. A search of his vehicle revealed an empty case of Twisted Tea and two empty bottles.

Janson was transported to the Lee County Jail and charged with:
