
Cape Coral, FL (August 1, 2025) — After a months-long, comprehensive investigation, the Cape Coral Police Department (CCPD) has arrested Darryle Terrell Ford (DOB 02/19/2008) in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries, motor vehicle theft, grand theft, and firearm-related offenses that occurred throughout Cape Coral and neighboring areas over recent months.
Through collaborative investigative efforts by patrol officers, the Property Crimes Unit, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, detectives have linked Darryle Terrell Ford, 17, to numerous recent crimes.
A summary of some of these incidents is listed below:
- March 8, 2025 – NE 23rd Place:
Officers responded to a vehicle burglary at a residence involving a Hyundai Santa Fe. A Glock 23 pistol, notable for its blue magazine and unique “Punisher” skull logo, was reported stolen. Ford was identified through numerous investigative techniques utilizing digital forensics of a self-created rap video where the stolen firearm and other suspected stolen items were displayed. - March 19, 2025 – NE 25th Avenue:
CCPD patrol officers responded to a past-occurred vehicle burglary. The victim reported his vehicle was burglarized and a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol was taken from the center console. The glove box was rummaged, but other valuables (such as a wallet and tools) were left behind. The firearm was later recovered. - May 21–22, 2025 – NE 8th Place:
A white Mercedes Benz was stolen from a local residence after being left unlocked with the keys inside. The vehicle was recovered the next day. Digital evidence was located that depicted Ford driving the car and showcasing its unique features, linking him to the theft and other related vehicle burglary investigations. - June 13, 2025 – NE 17th Place:
Officers responded to multiple overnight vehicle burglaries, including the theft of a Glock 43 handgun. Investigation revealed Ford possessed the firearm, confirmed by evidence recovered via a search warrant. Ford has a prior adjudication for Possession of a Firearm by a Minor. - June 22, 2025 – NE 2nd Place:
Officers addressed a series of vehicle burglaries, including a Chrysler 300 that was broken into, vandalized, and left inoperable due to keyless entry system tampering. Officers also took a report for a black GMC Yukon that was burglarized. Surveillance showed a window was smashed and the vehicle was ransacked; items, including a baby’s car seat, were thrown onto the street, and the victim reported $800 in damages. Neighborhood canvassing and surveillance identified Ford as the primary suspect. - July 5, 2025 – NE 21st Avenue/NE 1st Terrace:
Officers responded to a BMW burglary where the window was smashed but nothing was taken, as well as similar nearby break-ins. Detectives later connected these to Ford after reviewing evidence and multiple video sources. Security footage also showed Ford stealing a yellow and black bicycle (valued at $350) and using it to commit additional burglaries the same morning. Further evidence, including gloves and a window punch, connected him to the crimes.

- 1 count: F.S.S. 812.014(2)(d)(1), Grand Theft of Property within Curtilage
- 1 count: F.S.S. 790.23(1)(d), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by an Adjudicated Delinquent
- 3 counts: F.S.S. 790.22(5)(b), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18
- 7 counts: F.S.S. 810.02(4)(b), Burglary of an Unoccupied Vehicle, Unarmed
- 1 count: F.S.S. 812.019(1), Dealing in Stolen Property
- 1 count: F.S.S. 812.014(2)(c)(1), Grand Theft Over $750 Less Than $5,000
- 3 counts: F.S.S. 806.13(1)(b)(2), Criminal Mischief Over $200 Less Than $1,000
- 1 count: F.S.S. 812.014(3)(b), Petit Theft, Prior Conviction
