(January 24, 2024) — The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation (“Operation Distracted Driving is Dangerous Driving”) on January 24, 2025 specifically targeting distracted driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in thirty-seven citations.

***The operation was paid for with FDOT sub-grant funding. Cape Coral currently ranks 4th out of 38 agencies in Distracted Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
