(January 7, 2025) — On January 5, 2025, at approximately 12:26 AM, officers working for the Cape Coral Police responded to a reported burglary in progress at a residence in the area of Durden Parkway and Northeast 21st Place. Officers arrived and encountered a male subject later identified as Antonio Cruz Aparicio (DOB 01/25/1982), who was attempting to gain entry to a residence.
According to the victim, the suspect was seen trying to open a locked slider door on the back of the home. The victim confronted the suspect, advising him that he was armed. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
While canvassing the neighborhood, officers located Antonio Cruz Aparicio standing in front of a nearby residence, yelling that he needed help and that his house had been poisoned. When officers approached, Aparicio did not comply with lawful commands and began resisting detention. Officers determined that Aparicio was not a resident of the address.
Aparicio initially refused to comply, tensing his body and pulling away from officers. With the assistance of other officers, he was taken to the ground. Despite attempts to detain him, Aparicio continued to resist, and officers were forced to use a Taser in an attempt to gain control. Aparicio was then successfully detained. Cape Coral Fire and Lee County EMS assessed Aparicio at the scene, but no medical issues were identified.
During the investigation, officers learned that Aparicio had attempted to break into the victim’s home, and the victim confirmed that he had not invited the suspect onto the property. Video surveillance from a nearby residence captured Aparicio knocking on doors and speaking incoherently, further confirming his involvement in the incident. Additionally, officers located Aparicio’s wallet, which contained his identification, near another residence in the neighborhood.
Aparicio was transported to Cape Coral Hospital for medical clearance and was subsequently booked into the Lee County Jail on the following charges:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 810.02(3)(a), Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 843.01, Resisting Arrest with Violence

Arrested: Antonio Cruz Aparicio (DOB 01/25/1982)
