Barricaded Subject Arrested for False Imprisonment

(December 27, 2024) — On December 26, 2024, at approximately 4:49 PM, officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department (CCPD) responded to a domestic disturbance near NW 15th Avenue and NW 2nd Terrace in Cape Coral.

A 911 call reports that Christopher Michael Peel (DOB 02/05/1982) was battering a woman he was in a relationship with.

Upon police arrival, Peel barricaded himself in the garage and refused to cooperate. CCPD’s Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation. The victim reported that Peel had physically battered her during an argument and blocked her from leaving the residence. When Peel was informed that police were on their way, he locked himself in the garage. Peel made statements that he would only leave the home in a body bag.

Due to Peel’s erratic behavior and refusal to comply, the CCPD SWAT team was activated. Shortly after SWAT arrived on scene, Peel elected to exit the home and was taken into custody without further incident.

Peel was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with the following:

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 787.02 (2), False Imprisonment

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 784.03(1A1), Battery

Arrested: Christopher Michael Peel (DOB 02/05/1982)
