The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a special traffic operation, “Leave Sooner, Drive Slower, Live Longer“, on Friday, July 19, 2024. This high visibility enforcement operation specifically targeted speeding & aggressive driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in 56 citations.

Cape Coral currently ranks 12th out of 38 agencies in Speeding or Aggressive Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
