(July 18, 2024) — Property Crimes Detectives arrested a woman after a thorough investigation stemming from a grand theft in February of 2024.
On February 17, 2024, a woman entered Kohl’s at 513 NE Pine Island Road in Cape Coral. A loss prevention employee was watching security camera footage and observed two people, an adult woman and a juvenile female, in the store pushing an empty baby stroller. The women removed six different pairs of shoes from the boxes, hid the shoes under a blanket in the stroller, and left the store without paying. The total cost of the items stolen was approximately $789.00.
Detectives launched an investigation to identify the two females, and sent surveillance images to other local law enforcement agencies. The Fort Myers Police Department told our detectives they had previously detained two females matching the descriptions of the females in the images. The Fort Myers Police Department said one woman was identified as Blanca Miranda Rodriguez (DOB 01/15/1977) and identified another female under the age of 18.
On July 17, 2024, Cape Coral Police Officers responded to the Target at 1890 NE Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, for a retail theft.
A loss prevention employee stopped a woman, identified as Blanca Miranda Rodriguez, who was concealing items in her purse and left the store without paying. The items stolen were miscellaneous beauty products valued at $391.96. The original detective from the February Grand Theft investigation responded to the store. The investigation confirmed that Blanca Miranda Rodriguez was involved in the grand theft in February, where she stole multiple pairs of shoes and sold them for a profit of over $1,000.
Blanca Miranda Rodriguez was arrested in both theft investigations and was taken to the Lee County Jail and charged with the following:
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.014(3a) – Petit theft
–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 812.014(2)(c)1, Grand Theft, a Felony of the Third Degree
