(June 18, 2024) — Coroy Dontavia Flournoy (DOB 3/8/1983) was sentenced this morning in federal court after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm while being a convicted felon.
Flournoy has a long history of violent arrests in Lee County. Flournoy, aka “Creazy,” is well known in the Fort Myers community as a local rapper and gang member.
In February of 2023, Flournoy committed a violent armed occupied burglary and aggravated assault against his ex-girlfriend (the mother of his children) in Cape Coral. Flournoy kicked in the front door to his ex-girlfriend’s residence and threatened her with a firearm before fleeing the scene.
Detectives authored an arrest warrant for Flournoy, which was approved by the State Attorney’s Office. The US Marshals Taskforce located Flournoy at his residence in Fort Myers, where he was placed under arrest. After a search warrant was executed for the home, detectives found a firearm (Glock 19, 9mm, with a 30 round extended magazine) under a mattress. The investigation determined Flournoy’s DNA matched with the DNA found on the gun.
The case was then assigned to a Cape Coral Police Department Detective, who was working with the FBI’s Violent Crime Taskforce. They secured an indictment on Flournoy at the federal level for felon in possession of a firearm on September 20, 2023.
Flournoy’s ex-girlfriend, and original victim of the investigation, stated in a deposition in October 2023, that Flournoy resided with her in Cape Coral and never threatened her with a firearm; therefore, changing her testimony from the original statement to the Cape Coral Police Department. Because of this, the State Attorney’s Office dropped the State charges and it greatly affected Flournoy’s federal sentencing guidelines, as there was not a “violent” crime that accompanied the felon in possession of a firearm charge. Flournoy was originally looking at over five years in federal prison, but his guidelines changed to two years.
However, this morning, the federal judge did not wish to account for the recanting of Flournoy’s ex-girlfriend’s testimony, and sentenced Flournoy to forty-one months in the federal Department of Corrections to be followed by three years of federal probation upon his release. Prior to this, Flournoy never served any time in prison.
