Juvenile Arrested for Vehicle Theft After Fleeing to McDonald’s

On June 13th, 2024, at approximately 1 AM, Officers working for the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a home in SW Cape Coral for reports of a stolen vehicle.

Officers spoke to the registered owner and discovered that the vehicle was possibly stolen from the location by a known offender, Michael Jesus Hernandez-Narvaez (DOB 12/29/2009). The victim stated that the keys were inside the vehicle and explained that Mr. Hernandez-Narvaez has a history of motor vehicle thefts.

An Officer tried to pull over the vehicle in question and the driver attempted to take off. Mr. Hernandez-Narvaez was running stop signs, driving at a high rate of speed, and driving without the car’s lights on. The car was tracked to a McDonald’s parking lot. Officers detained Mr. Hernandez-Narvaez, who stated he stole the vehicle because he wanted to go for a joy ride. Mr. Hernandez-Narvaez confirmed that he does not have a license, does not own the vehicle, and did not receive permission to remove the vehicle from the victim’s residence.

It was also revealed that Mr. Hernandez-Narvaez had multiple warrants out of Lee County. He was placed under arrest, taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, and charged with the following:

–1 count in violation of F.S.S 812.014 (2c6), Grand Theft Auto

–1 count in violation of F.S.S. 316.192(1), Reckless Driving

–1 count in violation of F.S.S 322.03(1), Driving without a valid driver’s license
